No matter your age, or your fitness level, there's a way to stay in shape in Grand Rapids. The Kroc Center has programs for everyone, especially seniors.

The classes are for adults 55 and older.

Senior Fit is a low-impact group fitness class, utilizing movement and light weights while jamming along to oldies hits. Participants also work on balance and flexibility.

Stretch & Flex is offered to everyone, to help increase flexibility and range of motion.

Senior Yoga can reduce stress and relax the mind.

Seniors can also dig out their bathing suits and take a stroll in the lazy river for a low-impact water aerobic workout. This class is self-directed.

The Walking Club meets every Thursday to stroll around the Kroc campus.

Every Friday is Senior Friday! It includes open activity room with complimentary coffee & pastries, Senior fit classes, pool walking, special guest speakers & movies. Senior Fridays are free for members and only $5 for nonmembers.

Fitness Manager Tony Deakin says the community aspect is the biggest draw. "They all know each other, they're all friends, they all speak to each other outside of class. They kind of motivate each other to come as well" he says.

The Kroc Center also offers drop-in art classes, Pickleball and bingo.

Older adults may be eligible for a free membership through Healthways Silver Sneakers and Sliver & Fit insurance benefits.
