Muskegon Police confirm the death of a 1 year old is now being investigated as a homicide.

According to a release sent on Friday, April 21, an autopsy has been performed and the results of toxicology testing and a final determination of death are expected soon.

On Friday, April 14, an infant identified as Korey Brown was found not moving in a playpen at a Muskegon child care center. Last weekend at vigil held for the child, WZZM 13 spoke to the baby's mom, Bryanna Reasonover. She said she noticed bites and bruises on his face.

This week, police said an unidentified 8-year-old child also at the home at the time possibly tried to help the 1-year-old when he became upset. They say Brown was crying about something when the other child stepped in to provide aid. It's likely that cost the child his life, police say.

In a release sent Friday, April 21, police say that no suspects have been identified at this time and "measures have been put in place by protective services to make sure that there is no threat to other children."

Police say that a multi-jurisdiction investigation is underway, and that this week they personally met with the mother of the infant. Police did not say if any adults from the daycare were facing charges.
