Victim identified in Muskegon Heights house fire

The woman has been identified as Yolanda Anne Tate, 48, of Muskegon Heights.

MUSKEGON HEIGHTS, Mich. - Investigators have identified the woman whose body was found Tuesday, April 24, three days after a fire that destroyed a house in Muskegon Heights.

Yolanda Anne Tate, 48, died inside the vacant and condemned house.

Tate is from Muskegon Heights. It's unknown why she was inside the home. Windows and doors had been secured with plywood, but neighbors said they believe it had been broken into several times over the years.

Firefighters and crime scene investigators discovered Tate's body in a second story bedroom at the corner of Sixth Street and Columbia Avenue.

A Michigan State Police fire marshal went to the home to investigate the cause of the fire from days earlier. Investigators said her body was partly covered by debris and it was dark when firefighters were there this weekend.
