Grand Rapids Griffins hand out 80 free helmets

The Grand Rapids Griffins handed out 80 free helmets to kids from the Griffins Youth Foundation.

The event was called Put a Lid On It, which is a program that promotes helmet safety. It was founded in 2004 with the ultimate goal of reducing the number and severity of head injuries sustained by children participating in wheeled sports.

This year, the Griffins gave out the helmets at Griff's IceHouse on Saturday morning March 10.
