A significant portion of M-6 will be closed for a construction project this summer.

According to a news release from the Michigan Department of Transportation, M-6 between Wilson Avenue and I-196 in both directions will undergo a reconstruction project. That portion of M-6 will be closed on July 8, 2017 and detours will be set up between I-196 and US-131.

This year, MDOT intends to invest $9 million to the reconstruction project.

MDOT says officials will provide more project details, schedule and traffic information at a public meeting on Wednesday, June 28 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Byron Township Hall.
