March Madness is about more than brackets.

The NCAA basketball tournament also is about food.

While the multi-week competition tips off March 13 and goes through April 2, some of these limited-time meal deals end earlier. There's also a chance to win some prizes in contests.

Blue Ribbon Fried Chicken: For the month of March, try the Chicken Madness sandwich for $9.25. The sandwich has fried chicken, barbecue pulled chicken, pepper jack cheese, bacon, barbecue sauce and pickled peppers.

Boston's Pizza Restaurant & Sports Bar: Weekdays during the tournament, get one domestic pint and one three-topping pizza for less than $10 for the “Pint & A Pizza” promotion. The chain also will have a special “Game Shape Margarita.”

There are plans to shutter up to 160 Applebee's and IHOP locations, according to parent DineEquity.

Little Caesars Pizza: Mark your calendar for April 2. Because the UMBC Retrievers beat No. 1 seed, the Virginia Cavaliers, participating Little Caesars are giving away free lunch combos from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 2. Aside from the upcoming freebie, the chain has two limited time specials including the new “ExtraMostBestest Stuffed Crust Pizza” for $9 from 4-8 p.m. daily and the lunch combo, which features four slices of the chain’s Detroit-style deep pizza and a 20-ounce Pepsi product, is $4 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. every day.
