A group veterans from Muskegon hope to get a boat used in the Vietnam war running and back on the water.
The effort is called "Operation Black Sheep".
The Mark-II P.B.R. boat is being restored to a condition similar to when it was used in the war,
The restoration work has been going on for months at Muskegon's Mart Dock.
There are only 33 in existence in the United States. This spring members of Operation Black Sheep hope to begin taking veterans and members of the public out onto Muskegon Lake.
"Water is therapeutic for me," said Robert Bowyer, Operation Black Sheep founder. "I sat down with a couple of friends and we had this idea, and here it is six-months later and it is a reality."
Over the winter volunteers will need to complete major engine work in preparation for late spring or early summer tours.
