One person has died after an overnight motorcycle crash south of Portland.
According to Michigan State Police, the crash occurred just before 3:15 a.m. on Monday, May 15, on Charlotte Highway near the corner of E. Musgrove Highway. That's at the southern edge of the Portland State Game Area.
A passerby noticed the crashed bike and called 911. The driver, 39-year-old Clinton Lueth, was pronounced dead at the scene.
MSP believes Lueth was traveling northbound on Charlotte Highway when he lost control around a curve, overturned and hit a sign. He was not wearing a helmet at the time and alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash.
Police also say Lueth was unlicensed and did not have a cycle endorsement.
The crash remains under investigation.
