The Michigan Department of Transportation held its second public meeting Wednesday to answer questions from the public regarding M-6's upcoming reconstruction.
On July 8, the eastbound lanes on M-6 between Wilson Avenue and I-196 will be closed for total overhaul. Once completed the same reconstruction will happen along the westbound lands of M-6.
The total project is projected to end in mid-November.
The $9 million project was scheduled for 2022, but due to unusual pavement erosion the project was fast tracked to this summer.
Nearly 40,000 commuters use this stretch of M-6 daily. All first responders and popular trucking lines have been informed of the closures and are encouraged to circumvent the project by way of I-96, US-131 and I-196.
