One person is dead after a roll-over crash in a rural section of northern Kent County.
Crews were sent around 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, to the area of 18 Mile Road and Red Pine Drive NW on a report of a rolled-over vehicle that had crashed into a tree.
Police identify the driver as 18-year-old Isiah Slater of Tyrone Township, according to a Kent County Sheriff's Department news release. He was the only person inside the vehicle.
Slater was pronounced dead at the scene.
Witnesses told police it appeared Slater attempted to pass another southbound vehicle on Red Pine Drive when he lost control of the car before crashing.
An early investigation shows high-speed might have played a role in the crash.
