Ferris State prepares for Elite Eight

The Ferris State University men's basketball squad has earned the number one overall seed for the 2018 NCAA Division II Elite Eight and will square off against Barry (Fla.) in the national quarterfinal round on Tuesday, March 20, at 3:30 p.m. (ET) in Sioux Falls, S.D.

The Bulldogs captured the Midwest Regional Championship before a sellout crowd of 2,434 fans on Tuesday (March 13) evening at FSU's Jim Wink Arena, beating former league rival Findlay 80-65 to improve to 35-1 overall this season. It was FSU's 23rd-straight victory this campaign.

FSU and eighth-seeded Barry will meet in the second national quarterfinal game on Tuesday with the winner advancing to the D2 National Semifinals on Thursday (March 22) in Sioux Falls. The national title game is on Saturday (March 24).

FSU's opponent, Barry, won the D2 South Region Championship on Tuesday evening as the seventh seed in its region to set up a second trip to the D2 Elite Eight and holds a 23-8 overall record this year.

The other quarterfinal-round games at the Sanford Pentagon include fourth-seeded West Texas A&M against fifth-seeded Le Moyne at 1 p.m. (ET) along with number two seed Queens (N.C.) facing seventh-seeded Cal-Baptist at 7 p.m. (ET) with number two seed Northern State (S.D.) concluding the day against sixth-seeded East Stroudsburg (Pa.) at 9:30 p.m. (ET).

Local flagship station Sunny 97.3 FM and the Bulldog Sports Network will carry all the live action from Sioux Falls with a free online audio stream also available at FerrisStateBulldogs.com.

In addition, the national quarterfinal games on Tuesday will be streamed with live video at NCAA.com with the national semifinals also slated to be aired Thursday evening on CBS Sports Network and the national championship game live on CBS Sports along with NCAA.com.

The Bulldogs captured their second-ever regional championship last night and will be making their first appearance in the D2 Elite Eight since 1988. FSU is midst its 13th all-time national tournament bid and has reached at least the Sweet Sixteen twice in the past three seasons.

Tuesday night's victory gave the Bulldogs a perfect record at home this year at 22-0 and FSU has also now won 28 consecutive home contests dating back to last year.
