This week's Meijer Scholar Athlete award goes to Montague’s Sam Siemer.

The senior is in his third year as a captain on the Wildcats soccer team, is on the student council and carries a 3.92 GPA in the classroom.

And that high GPA is needed because Sam has plans to go to either Michigan or Michigan Tech to study engineering.

For Sam, it’s all about the competition, and for him he doesn’t care if it’s on the pitch or the classroom.

“I hate when other people can say they are better than you, I’m not one to brag but I just try to be better than everyone else." says Sam, "We all try to beat each other, get better grades than each other but now it’s just all self-motivated. I’m always trying to get the best score that I can in every single class."
