The roster restructure continues for the Detroit Tigers.

Earlier tonight the team traded second baseman Ian Kinsler to the Los Angeles Angels for 18-year old right-handed pitcher Wilkel Hernandez and 23-year old centerfielder Troy Montgomery.

The Tigers acquired Kinsler from the Texas Rangers in the Prince Fielder trade prior to the 2014 season. The 35-year old hit .275 with 78 home runs in 607 games. He won the American League Gold Glove in 2016.

In 139 games last season for Detroit, Kinsler hit .236 with 22 home runs and 52 RBI. He's owed $11 million in 2018 but will be a free agent after next season.

Dixon Machado is expected to take over as the Tigers’ full-time second baseman for the 2018 season.
