Danny Pinero hit a walk-off single with one out in the 10th inning, as the West Michigan Whitecaps topped the Lansing Lugnuts 5-4 on Thursday.

Josh Lester scored the game-winning run after he led off the inning with a single and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt.

Mitch Nay hit a solo home run in the second inning to give the Lugnuts a 1-0 lead. The Whitecaps came back to take a 2-1 lead in the fifth inning when Danny Woodrow hit an RBI single, driving in Chad Sedio.

Lansing regained the lead 4-2 after it scored three runs in the seventh inning, including a triple by Edward Olivares that scored Christian Williams.

West Michigan tied the game 4-4 in the seventh when Anthony Pereira hit a two-run double.

West Michigan starter Eudis Idrogo went 6 2/3 innings, allowing four runs and seven hits. He also struck out four and walked two. John Schreiber (2-1) got the win with 1 2/3 innings of scoreless relief while Connor Eller (1-1) took the loss in the Midwest League game.

With the win, West Michigan improved to 5-1 against Lansing this season.
