Griffins fall to Moose in game three, 6-3

Moose win game 3 to push Griffins to the brink.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.- The Griffins and Moose combined for 18 penalties on Sunday in game two of their playoff series.

On Wednesday night in game three the two teams combined for 12 penalties...in the first period.

The Moose were able to frustrate the Griffins all night on their way to a 6-3 win and a 2-1 series lead in the best-of-five Central Division Semifinals.

Manitoba scored two goals in the first period nearly four minutes apart to take a 2-0 lead before Ben Street scored for the third straight game to pull the Griffins within one.

While Street was celebrating, both teams starting pushing and shoving which led to Filip Hronek and Matthew Ford receiving 10-minute misconduct penalties. Three Moose players received misconduct penalties for the scrum as well.

While the penalties calmed down in the second period, the scoring picked up. Both teams netted two goals, including the first of Zach Nastasiuk's playoff career. Manitoba led 4-3 going into the third period.

A pair of empty-net goals made up the final score.

Game four of the series will be played Thursday night at Van Andel Arena. Puck Drop set for just after 7 pm
