WALKER, Mich. — Overnight road closures are taking effect Monday for commuters in the Walker area.

The City of Walker posted on their Facebook page Friday morning that lane and ramp closures will begin on I-96 and Alpine Avenue starting Monday, July 25.

The good news: All the construction is planned to take place overnight, beginning at 8 p.m. and lasting through 5 a.m.

The bad news: Commuters needing to be on the road at those times will need to have a backup plan to get to their destinations.

MDOT says crews will be working to resurface the Alpine Avenue interchange ramps and the shoulders on I-96. You can find details about the entire project here

The project is expected to wrap up July 29.
