A stretch of I-96 is scheduled to close for a time as police further their investigation into Friday's crash near M-6.
Police will shut down westbound I-96 at M-50/Alden Nash Avenue from 11 a.m. to noon Sunday, March 5, according to a Michigan Department of Transportation news release.
The crash happened about Friday, March 3, nearly 4 miles away at westbound I-96 near the M-6 interchange. As Alden Nash Avenue is the only exit off I-96 before where the crash happened, drivers have the option to get off the highway to continue westward travel.
State police say an SUV hit the rear of a sedan Friday, causing both drivers to lose control of their vehicles. The SUV rolled over several times, critically injuring the 53-year-old driver from Lowell.
She later died at a Grand Rapids-area hospital.
Police have not yet released her name.
