After a long, pleasant stretch of weather -- summer-like heat and humidity is poised to return to West Michigan.

A large ridge of high pressure will build across the Great Lakes states this weekend as temperatures soar.

Temperatures and humidity levels will surge as a southwesterly flow pumps very warm air back into Michigan.

Grand Rapids hasn't reached 90 degrees since September 6 -- that streak could end as early as Sunday.

Parts of West Michigan are running a sizable rainfall deficit since early May. Grand Rapids is nearly three inches behind since May 1. The next week will do little to help this situation.
