Severe thunderstorms are possible Friday, June 30, in parts of West Michigan.
Two rounds of storms will punctuate a very busy weather week.
A front will sag south and settle close to the Michigan/Indiana line late Thursday night. It will be the focus for very heavy rain and some lightning early Friday morning. There is the potential for some flooding from these storms.
The air mass will become unstable and very moist fueling this first line of storms. Severe weather is unlikely with heavy rain and lightning being the main threats.
A second round is possible Friday afternoon. Confidence in this round is low. If there is enough clearing after the first round, a line of storms could erupt late Friday.
A few of the strongest storms could contain damaging wind gusts and even large hail.
The best chances for afternoon storms will be south of I-96.
