With severe weather season right around the corner, SkyWarn programs across West Michigan are offering free training to anyone interested in learning more about weather and how to spot dangerous and potentially severe storms.

Hundreds turned out for Thursday's event held at Grandville High School.

Attendees learned about what types of cloud formations to look for as well as how to report what they observe which is vital to meteorologists especially in severe weather situations.

There are still numerous training opportunities if you missed out.
