ROCKFORD, MICH. - Halfway between Cedar Springs and Rockford, Cedar Rock Cafe has everything you'd expect at a classic diner, plus something totally unexpected...a drive-thru for specialty coffee drinks.
"It's imported from Italy and it won award for it's consistency," said Cedar Rock owner Joe Seyferth as he describes their new robotic barista. "It actually goes through the process of grinding and stamping the beans, it's froths the milk and everything."
And while they are excited to have it, the machine has nothing on those who've worked there for years. "The staff knows people and when they come in we get an individual's eggs going like a bartender," said Joe. "It's small enough to where we can have that attention to detail and really satisfy our customers."
Their new addition is allowing them to take their service to the next level by offering something you can't get for miles, specialty espresso drinks at a drive thru.
"There is a Starbucks five miles up the road, but this is on my way to work, a lot easier," said a driver pulling up for his morning mocha.
For the month of April the cafe is whipping up an Easter special, the Marshmallow Bunny Mocha Latte.
And there is a lot for locals to love about Cedar Rock's location...halfway between Rockford and Cedar Springs on M-57, it's an easy place to stop to fuel up for the day. Visitors love it too. "I come from Grayling up north, I used to work in a place like this and I knew the food would be better here than anyplace else," said a diner having breakfast there for the first time.
At the end of the day, what sets Cedar Rock apart? The people.
"This place has the friendliest group of people and they are always here...it's always the same staff," said one regular. "You kind of get to know them, and they are always friendly, never had a bad meal here."
Cedar Rock is open Monday through Sunday until 2 p.m. Click here for more about Cedar Rock Cafe.
