JENISON, MICH. - It's something many communities take for granted -- simply having a locally-owned restaurant that you can go to for a big game, a family celebration, or to have lunch with a friend.
Finally, the communities of Jenison and Georgetown Township have their own gathering place, called The Win Tavern 33.
It's the first tavern in Jenison, and much-needed according to locals.
"We needed a hot place in Jenison that was close by to shopping, errands, and good food to meet a good friend once in awhile," said one diner.
"We tried multiple ventures in Grand Rapids until we found this place in Jenison and it just seemed like the right thing to do," says Robert Wahl, owner and operator of The Win.
The tavern opened a few short weeks ago, so the menu is limited but steadily growing. The place also offers many local Michigan beers, including four on tap from Founders Brewing Co.
"It's a dream of ours come true. We've been wanting to do this for our entire lives. We've looked at a lot of places, then we found this place in particular. We fell in love with the area," says Scott Ingersoll, owner and operator of The Win. "The community's been amazing, very supportive, well receptive of it and we're just excited to be here."
The Win is located on Baldwin Street, near the corner of Baldwin and 20th Avenue.
