Fifth Third River Bank Run celebrates 40th anniversary year

Check out the bling you can earn at this year's Fifth Third River Bank Run

GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. - It's the largest 25K road race in the country, and this year the Fifth Third River Bank Run is celebrating it's 40th anniversary.

WZZM 13's Meredith TerHaar spoke with race director John Zimmerman and Lindsey VanDenBoom from Perrin Brewing about what is going to make this year's race experience unique.

New and different every year, John shared the design for the 40th anniversary medal.  It's a substantial size and weight with a runner that spins as a special feature.  Lindsey spoke about the partnership between the Fifth Third River Bank Run and Perrin Brewing, noting Friday night's festivities at packet pickup, as well as the after party following Saturday's race.

WZZM is marking the anniversary by taking the Weekend Morning News on the road.

On Saturday, May 13, the WZZM 13 Morning News will be live from downtown Grand Rapids as race day gets underway.
