Grand Haven's Chilly Blues Weekend is back

GRAND HAVEN, Mich. (WZZM) -- For more than 20 years, Grand Haven has hosted the festive Chilly Blues Weekend.

The event is known for bringing a mix of local, regional, and national blues acts along with a chili cook-off contest.

The big event will be held on Saturday, April 26th.

"The longevity of the event is due to the quality of the music, the fun atmosphere, and the popular chili contest that draws people from all over the state. It has come to signify the beginning of summer in Grand Haven!" said Steve Loftis who started Chilly Blues 22 years ago along with Greg Gilmore of the Kirby House. "We are again hosting the beer tent for the Saturday night extravaganza!"

On April 25-27, Grand Haven will be celebrating 22 years of Chilly Blues with some of the finest blues around. "This year we are excited to welcome a national blues act from Chicago, Big James and the Chicago Playboys. They will be performing in the entertainment/beer tent at the Municipal Marina parking lot on Saturday April 26. You won't want to miss the opportunity to see much of the area's blues talent as well as the energized and inspired playing of Big James Montgomery and his band," said Mike Coleman, music coordinator for Chilly Blues.

Advanced tickets are $10 for Saturday night, and $12 the day of the event. The Chilly Blues participating pub crawl venues include Snug Harbor, The Kirby Grill, Theatre Bar, The Grand, and Odd Side Ales.
