Freeze! More than 300 people do LaughFest mannequin challenge

GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. - Hundreds of people gathered at Rosa Parks Circle in downtown Grand Rapids -- frozen like statues in attempt to create West Michigan's largest mannequin challenge during Gilda's LaughFest Community Kickoff.

LaughFest enthusiasts started lining up at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 9, to register for the event. The challenge was the start of the seventh annual community-wide festival. The 10-day long event raises money for families dealing with cancer.

The participants held their poses for nearly four minutes while the challenge was being recorded. LaughFest posted the official video to their Facebook page on Saturday, March 11.

“It was a seriously fun and funny way to kick off LaughFest 2017 with the West Michigan community,” said Wendy Wigger, President of Gilda’s Club Grand Rapids and LaughFest.

Laughest 2017 includes free and ticketed events featuring more that 100 performers at venues in Grand Rapids, Lowell and Holland. Some headliners include: Sinbad, Pete Holmes, and Katt Williams. Other events include the Best of the Midwest Competition, the National Stand-up Comedy Showcase, the Clean Comedy Showcase, FUNderwear Run, Seriously Funny Family Adventure Challenge, Super Saturday Kids Zone and other festival favorites.
