GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. - Just one year ago, a group of friends took over the space that is now One Bourbon on Grand Rapids' Westside.
Brett and Meagan Freriks are from Zeeland and George and Meg Chittenden are from Spring Lake and Wayland.
The idea behind the restaurant came from a "friendsgiving" gathering the Thanksgiving one year earlier. While sipping on bourbon, the couples jokingly threw out the idea of opening a restaurant together.
One Bourbon opened in March.
The restaurant serves up a wide variety of bourbon and comfort food. The name is inspired from the legendary "One bourbon, one scotch and one beer by George Thorogood."
