There has been a big announcement in the World of Chemistry pertaining to the Periodic Table of Chemical Elements. This year four new chemical elements have been announced and named. The new names are currently undergoing public review until the beginning of November and then will officially (and very soon) be added to our Periodic Table.
With this exciting announcement in Chemistry, Chemical Kim shares an exciting demonstration of some of the elements on the Periodic Table. Explaining a little history and possible discoveries and investigations kids could do at home to learn the Chemical Elements!
The four newly discovered elements are as follows:
· Nihonium and symbol Nh, for the element 113 (named after Japan: Nihon, the first discovered by a team of scientists from an Asian country)
· Moscovium and symbol Mc, for the element 115 (named after Moscow, Russia where one of the team of scientists did the discovery)
· Tennessine and symbol Ts, for the element 117 (named after Tennessee where one of the team of scientists did the discovery)
· Oganesson and symbol Og, for the element 118 (named after a famous Russian scientist Professor Yuri Oganessian who did research on super heavy elements)
