Bands/Musicians Wanted for Walk the Beat

GRAND HAVEN, MICH. - A West Michigan music event is looking for local bands and performers to play at the annual event.

Walk The Beat features 30 different venues and more than 30 different musical acts all in one day in Grand Haven.

The non-profit connects small businesses with musicians who are promoting themselves and would like to help out their community.

The main event is Saturday, August 19 from 1 to 5 p.m. at various Grand Haven locations. You can find a list of them by clicking here.

Songwriters and musicians can submit an original song in the "Best Song Contest." Entries will be judged by Third Coast Recording Company team, for a chance to win $2,500.

The Grand Rapids band Melophobix won the Best Band grand prize in 2016. The reward was a 40 hours of production and recording at Third Coast Recording Company in Grand Haven with Bill Chrysler. The band recently released their first in studio video.

They also stopped by WZZM 13 to share one of their original songs.
