TV TUESDAY: Back in 1996, Ethan and Joel Coen, AKA 'The Coen Brothers", delivered a movie masterpiece, "FARGO". It won two Oscars that year - one for actress Frances McDormand and another for best screenplay (it was nominated for 5 additional Oscars that year). Late last year, F/X announced they were working on a ten-episode TV version of "Fargo" - much to the displeasure of the movie's die hard fans. But soon after the casting of Billy Bob Thornton as the creepy-yet-sympathetic "Lorne Malvo", and the Coen brothers gave the script their blessing .... suddenly the tides changed. Now with TV critics getting advanced copies of a few of the episodes ... the buzz is GOOD about the new show!
WZZM 13 film/tv critic and entertainment reporter, Stephanie Webb, caught up with Thornton and Martin Freeman ("Bilbo Baggins", Lord of The Rings & Hobbit films) to talk about the series, comparisons to the film, and how more big film stars are heading BACK to the small screen for good roles.
"FARGO" premieres Tuesday, April 15th at 10pm.
