WHITEHALL, MICH. - For the second year in a row Native American drummers, singers and dancers will perform at Michigan's Heritage Park in Whitehall this weekend during the Honoring Native Heritage Pow Wow.
Melissa Horton, who is the Program Director for the Lakeshore Museum Center and Lori Shustha, who is the head female dancer for the Pow Wow are here to tell us more joined the weekend morning team to share more information about the two day event.
"A variety of dancing styles will be featured including traditional, fancy shawl, jingle dress, and grass," explained Lori. Park visitors will have an opportunity to participate in some of the dances.
"Over a dozen trade booths will be on the grounds with items for sale such as jewelry, handmade crafts, and bead work," said Melissa. Traditional native food will be available for purchase as well.
There are special park hours for the Pow Wow:
Saturday, July 15: 10:00 am - 8:00 pm.
Sunday, July 16 10:00 am - 4:00 pm.
