HSWM hosts Teen Vet Camp and K9 Enrichment Camp

HSWM Pet of the Week

GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. - If your teen has expressed an interest in animals, the Humane Society of West Michigan is hosting a summer camp that may be perfect for them. Their Teen Vet Camp and K9 Enrichment Camp starts July 31st for ages 13-17.

Humane Society of West Michigan Exec. Director, Trudy Jeffers joined the noon news to talk about the program, and to introduce us to Beast.

Below are some details about the camps:

Morning session - Teen Vet Camp

  • Campers learn what it takes to care medically for animals, view live surgeries, and demonstrations.

Afternoon session - K9 Enrichment Camp

  • This camp focuses on enriching the lives of our dogs through training, agility and other fun activities.
  • Campers get to work with dogs and learn about some cool ways to get involved with dogs.

Campers can register for one or both sessions.

In August, there will be a camp that focuses on 8-10 years olds.  The camp is titled Pet Pals, which focuses on all animals. Also in August, the Media Mutts Camp will feature ways to get animals adopted through media outlets.  Campers will make a music video, PSA's  and other fun and unique activities. All camps still have openings but parents should act fast to sign up.

You can learn more on the Humane Society of West Michigan's website.
