GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. - Friends of Grand Rapids Parks and Grand Rapids' Urban Forestry Committee are hosting their annual Mayor's Tree of the Year contest.
For the past 6 years, the contest aims to highlight the human connection we have to trees and their significance to Grand Rapids heritage. Organizers say it is also an opportunity for the community to connect around the city's tree canopy and raise awareness about the importance of maintaining and preserving trees.
The first place winner will receive a $150 gift certificate to Eddie Bauer, second and third runners up will receive a prize valued at $50.
