GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM)-ArtPrize is six months away, but this year's entries are already taking shape.

Saturday, the West Michigan Potter's Guild got dirty for their ArtPrize piece, molding bowls out of clay. The group is teaming up with God's Kitchen to create a clay sculpture holding a bowl. At the base of the sculpture, the team of artists will lay a series of bowls that were painted by the public.

This is the first year the guild is participating in ArtPrize.

"The guild has been thinking about doing something for ArtPrize, but couldn't quite come up with a whole store, a whole concept. So we're quite excited to be part of our charity and to be part of this work," said Connie Dinnan-Cobb.

"I love what ArtPrize is. I think it's a great outreach to the community," said potter Dawn Soltysiak.

When ArtPrize is over, the potter's guild will sell the bowl as part of its annual Soup's On event in January. Proceeds from the fundraiser will go to God's Kitchen.
