'Tribute' by Jon Bouck.

GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) - An East Kentwood artist is using his paintbrush to pay tribute to a Navy SEAL, killed in Afghanistan.

Jon Bouck's created 'Tribute' in honor of David Warsen who died last month in a helicopter crash. Bouck coached Warsen in basketball years ago at Pinewood Middle School. He's also taught class for his brothers.

Bouck in currently in Las Vegas but he sent us a response from his phone.

"They're just a wonderful family and it's just a tragic loss that we lost David... I wanted to do something for them so I was going to do this painting, didn't know what and I saw the picture on the memorial Facebook page and as I was working on my ArtPrize painting, I was also working on this painting and all my passion turned towards this painting," says Bouck. "The least I could do was this painting, as a tribute to David in his honor."

Warsen's mother shot the picture Bouck's portrait is fashioned after. The painting now hangs in Pub 43.
