Memorial services set for woman killed in police chase crash

Family and friends of a Calvin College student killed in a crash involving a Michigan State Police chase will be remembered at services this week.

KENTWOOD, MICH. - The Calvin College student killed in a crash involving a Michigan State Police chase, will be remembered at memorial services.

21-year-old Tara Oskam was killed on Saturday, March 11, after a car being chased by police, collided with hers at 52nd Street and Broadmoor in Kentwood.

The visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 15, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m., at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Chapel on Kalamazoo Avenue.

Oskam's memorial services will be held on Thursday, March 16, at 1 p.m. at First Byron Center Christian Reformed Church.

A passenger in the suspect vehicle that crashed into Oskam's also died in the crash. He has been identified as 15-year-old David Torrez. The suspected driver, 16-year-old Alex Torrez, was seriously hurt.
