Take Five Cherry Creme Pie - 2/20/2014

A pie in honor of our first President, George Washington. If you want to make a more "from-scratch" version, you can make your own graham cracker crust and cherry pie filling. (There are delicious versions of both found in Linda's cookbook, "Sweetie-licious Pies".)

1 9" graham cracker crust
1 8-oz. bar cream cheese, softened
1 14-oz. can sweetened condensed milk
1/3 C. fresh squeezed lemon juice (about 2 lemons)
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. almond extract
1 21-oz. can cherry pie filling

In a large mixer bowl, beat cream cheese until fluffy. Gradually beat in condensed milk until smooth. Stir in lemon juice, vanilla, and almond extract. Pour into the prepared crust. Chill 3 hours, or until set. Top with desired amount of cheery pie filling. Refrigerate any leftovers.
