Grand Rapids St. Patrick's Day Parade

GRAND RAPIDS, (WZZM) - Crowds lined up in downtown Grand Rapids Saturday morning to kick off a Saint Patrick's Day celebration. The annual Saint Patrick's Day Parade started at the corner of Monroe and Lyon, before ending at Veterans Park.

There were 50 entries at this year's parade, including local bands and floats. For some people attending, the parade has a long family history.

It's a family tradition. We are predominantly Irish, and we do this every year," said Todd Norman.

Bill Quinn, one of the parade organizers said, "It's really all about family, it's not the green beer and stuff like that. i'm not saying no one should go out and drink but it's not about the green beer it's about family."

Parade organizers want to remind anyone drinking this weekend, to drink responsibly.
