(WZZM) - Leaves are natural resources and Greenthumb Rick Vuyst loves them. He has a great idea with what to do with them - use them for next year's planting bed.
Digging up sod can be a pain so Rick has an easier way. The first thing he does is put down newspapers where he wants to kill the grass for a flower bed. Wet the paper a bit, then top it with leaves. Then shovel soil on top of the leaves. The last sprinkle on top of the soil is Ringer Compost Plus.
Rick calls it a "leaf lasagna" and it will cook all winter long. Next spring, it will be ready for planting and won't require any sod digging.
