GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. - Elijah Libbett knows what it's like to struggle during the holidays.
"I remember as a kid going to a church giveaway. They said they had gifts for everybody but when we got there it was late, and they were out of toys for my age and gender," says Libbett.
Libbett still remembers the feeling.
"It hurt my heart, I ain't gonna lie, I cried but then one of the boys gave me his truck," says Libbett.
Libbett now owns Ellnora's Kitchen a restaurant in Southeast Grand Rapids and each year he holds a holiday gift and meal giveaway for the community.
"Last year we fed 1600 and gave away more than 600 gifts and this year it's even bigger," says Libbett.
Elijah uses his own money as well as donations from people and businesses in the community. He says that sometimes children in Southeast Grand Rapids don't get the same benefits as others.
"Grand Rapids is growing but many people here are not growing with it, they are struggling financially and economically," says Libbett.
