Ah-Nab-Awen Park a popular spot to view the city's fireworks

Fireworks in Ah-Nab-Awen Park

GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. - Dozens of blankets were already in place on the hillside of Ah-Nab-Awen Park in Grand Rapids before noon on Saturday in advance of the city's fireworks show.

For some families saving a prime spot for the fireworks is a long-standing tradition. That's certainly the case for Justin Ewald who says he's been nailing old sheets into the grass with his dad for more than 20 years.

The fireworks show, sponsored by Amway, begins at 10:30 p.m. Saturday night. Other fun festivities at Ah-Nab-Awen Park begin a little earlier in the evening at 6 p.m.

Don't plan to park at the Gerald R Ford Presidential Museum as that lot is reserved for museum-goers only.
