Cooking With Jaye
Tuesday, July 24 at 7 p. m.
Uptown Kitchen, 423 Norwood SE

Through GR Reads, the grown-up summer reading program at the Grand Rapids Public Library. Jaye's book Tasting and Touring Michigan's Homegrown Food: A Culinary Roadtrip is one of the 10 books selected.  Jaye's Demonstration class is free - and it's all about pesto, Jaye's favorite thing in the whole wide world.
Jaye makes pesto with her girlfriend Terri every year - find a lovely ritual around food - it makes the pleasures at the table touch all the senses.  Jaye will make pesto using a good handful or two of basil, organic baby spinach, toasted pine nuts or walnuts, half-dozen garlic cloves, lots of really good Parmesan cheese and finally a slow drizzle of olive oil. Whirl in a food processor until it looks fantastic. Don't get caught up in the details - make it yours.

Books available at Art of Table, Schulers Books and Music, Mason Jones in Gaslight Village.
