PORTAGE, MICH. - The city of Portage is shutting down a dog park because pieces of glass were found.
The South Westnedge Park will be temporarily closed so park rangers can find and remove the glass. The city said in a release Thursday, that the safety is the utmost importance and the dog park will be closed for at least the next eight weeks to replace the soil and spray hydro seed.
“The City of Portage takes the protection of our public, both the two-legged and four-legged citizens seriously and wants to ensure every park is safe,” said City Manager Larry Shaffer.
As soon as the new grass has grown in, the city plans to reopen the park. For more info about the park you can contact Portage Parks & Recreation Department at 269-329-4522 or at www.portagemi.gov.
