Grand Rapids (TAKE FIVE & COMPANY) -- Most paranormal investigators agree that there are several "paranormal" hot spots around the country. Savannah, Georgia; Tombstone, Arizona; Washington D.C.; and Key West, Florida.

According to Kathy Condor, a local investigator with Michigan Paranormal Encounters, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania is THE most haunted place in the U.S.

"No place is more haunted than Gettysburg - I have never ever encountered anything more haunted than that," says Condor. "I think it's because of the intensity of the violence and the pain and all of that in just three days - 50,000 men lost their lives in that battle it is just unprecedented."

As for just why a particular city may be more paranormal than others? "Anywhere where the city has alot of history and we even think that cities located by big bodies of water are more paranormally active," says Condor.

If you're interested in reading about more haunted places around the country - check out one of my favorite books, "Encyclopedia of Haunted Places". It's in bookstores now and several West Michigan area locations are also included, like the Felt Mansion in Saugatuck and the Grand Rapids Veterans Home and adjoining cemetary.
