Plagiocephaly (flat head syndrome) affects infants. Pediatricians continue to see a rise in cases across the U.S. Since 1992, referrals for infants with Plagiocephaly have increased markedly and continue to rise. This increase coincides with the American Academy of Pediatrics' recommendation to avoid the prone sleeping position.
