GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. - It's hard to believe that in 2016 there are still young women who are in need of assistance when it comes to their health and wellness -- but, there are and many are right here in our community.

WZZM 13 health reporter Valerie Lego introduces you to a young woman who not only wants to change that but is taking the steps to do it.

De'Chelle Richards is a junior at Grand Valley State University who founded a student organization, called P.O.W.E.R. to address the issues of women's rights as well as bring awareness to those issues.

Richards has also partnered with a non-profit called Be A Rose which specializes in providing feminine hygiene and support to underprivileged women.
