GRADN RAPIDS, MICH. - Your food is only safely stored in the refrigerator for four hours after a power outage. So, since some of you will be dealing with days of power outages -- here's what you need to know.

Toss any meat, chicken, fish, milk and eggs. Also toss any leftovers and that includes, pizza, pies, casseroles and soups.

There are also some medications that need to be stored in the refrigerator -- insulin is one of the most widely used that needs to be refrigerated. However, it can remain stable at room temperature for about a month.
