Track your health through tattoos

Smart tattoos can indicate health factors

GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. - Move over fitness trackers -- there's a new trend on the horizon and it comes in the form of a tattoo that can track your body's needs.

Researchers from MIT and Harvard Medical School have teamed up to create tattoo ink called DermalAbyss.

Here's how it works:

The tattoo ink has biosensors in it that respond to PH, sodium and blood sugar levels by changing color.
For example if you're diabetic, instead of having to prick your finger and test your blood, you would just see a change in the color of your tattoo.

The ink would also be able to sense dehydration.

Right now there are no plans to develop the DermalAbyss, but being able to create this type of body sensing technology opens up a whole new world of health technology for the future.
