MIDDLEVILLE, MICH. - If part of your Thanksgiving tradition includes football and watching the Detroit Lions, then you'll want to look a little closer at the start of the game for a 12-year-old West Michigan boy.
Gavin DeVore from Middleville is the 2016 winner of the Blue Cross Blue Shield My Kids Can Turkey Day Sweepstakes.
Part of Gavin’s winnings include delivering the commemorative game ball before the Lions/Vikings game on Thanksgiving day and participating in the national anthem on the field.
Gavin worked pretty hard to win this sweeps stakes which highlights kids who are active and living a healthy lifestyle.
He participated in the Lions' youth football camp this past summer. Gavin's favorite positions are quarterback and linebacker.
Gavin is a two-time state placer in wrestling. One year, Gavin played on a traveling baseball team year-round.
He played nearly 80 games between April and October. Gavin also ran a 5k in and finished in 34:02.
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan holds this contest every year so if you've got a child that is active they should enter next year to try and win.
