GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. - The new year is coming up and many are about to make New Year's resolutions and for some that means making the same one they made last year -- lose weight.
It's an easy one to make but not the easiest one to keep. About 33% of Americans make a resolution to lose weight and 90% of them will fail. It's a harsh reality but you don't have to be the one who fails.
The biggest thing is finding what works for you. Health.com talked to the most popular diet bloggers who each lost 150 pounds and they shared are a few tips and reminders that worked for them.
1. Pack snacks at work, that way you're not tempted to grab a cookie from the community table.
2. Put off your cravings. When you're struck with a craving, tell yourself to indulge "later." That way you don't feel like you depriving yourself, but just delaying it and you might end up forgetting about it.
3. Don't bring junk food home. If it's not in the house you can't eat it.
4. Take it 5 minutes at a time, meaning if you don't feel like exercising -- remind your self that you just need to get through 5 minutes. Chances are, once you get going you'll find yourself completing a full workout.
