GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. - The American Academy of Pediatrics just came out with new guidelines for screen time and children ditching older and more rigid ones.
Here's what they're recommending:
Children under 18 months - no screen time.
Children age’s two to five - one hour of high quality screen time per day.
And with Older children & teenagers - parents should discuss.
But, The Academy did make an interesting exception saying video chatting with parents and grandparents is a healthy form of communication.
They recommend that parents should also set up media-free zones in your home. The group did not set a limit on texting.
And it's important to remember that not all screen time is bad. There are some 80-thousand educational apps that can help children learn.
